Assistant Controller
AgState is currently seeking an Assistant Controller to support a fast-paced, diverse, and growing organization. Do you possess a strong background in accounting and/or financial reporting? Do you have excellent organizational skills? Do you have outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills?
Under direction of the CFO and/or Controller, works to keep financial records accurately and in balance with the General Ledger. The Assistant Controller will also need to ensure that AgState inventory accounting is done in a uniform manner at all locations.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Includes but not limited to the following:

- Ensure and lead in the accounting efforts by:
- Preparing accurate and timely producer grain settlements for the company.
- Preparing grain warehouse receipts as needed.
- Maintaining knowledge of the grain scale, maintaining scale tickets and posting grain transfers.
- Understanding of all grain contracts offered by the company.
- Overseeing the recording of rail/truck shipments of inventory and reconciles accordingly.
- Performing the daily balancing of the grain Daily Position Record (DPR).
- Performing inventory long-short report reconciliation.
- Accurately valuing our grain position during the month-end and year-end close process.
- Coordinating month-end and year-end accounting functions with the controller including inventory measurements, etc.
- Creating and maintaining inventory processes across the entire company.
- Ensuring that the system's storage rate codes, discount schedules and price schedules are set up and functioning properly.
- Complying with State and Federal Auditor requirements.
- Continue to grow and act as a leader by:
- Working with AgState's VPs to generate various sales reports, volume reports and other analytics.
- Effectively prioritizing projects and tasks, efficiently delegating, coordinating, and utilizing the resources within the company and within the company's budget.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university and four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Valid state motor vehicle operator's license and good driving record preferred
- Outstanding written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Excellent organization and time management skills and ability to communicate effectively and prioritize tasks
- Ability to multi-task and adapt in a fast-paced environment
